Description

Sunday Back Home is an intimate collection of personal photographs shot by Milo Montelli in 64 pages. Photos representing a period of immense inner research and recognition composed of memories trapped between walls and empty spaces, presences and absences, objects and old family albums.

This book takes the viewer on a nostalgic photographic trip through the intimate memories of a stranger, memories, which, even though they are not yours, you can, relate to them. You find yourself recalling memories of your own in the end entwining your past with that of the photographer finding similarities that enable you to share the unseen content that the images capture.

You never really forget the place where you grew up, this book is the proof. With its images and images of images. Memories that, in themselves, trigger memories. One single photo can start you on your own personal voyage into your past, trawling up long forgotten sentiments tied to events, sounds, smells, people and places triggering that ever welcome “warm fuzzy feeling”.

This project received a lot of support from our community of photo book lovers selling 140 limited edition copies in its crowdfunding campaign period enabling the production of 300 copies. This is a very well-loved book within our of community collectors. It isn’t hard to believe that this book is almost sold out.

The Photographer, Milo Montelli had this to say about the project that resulted in this fabulous photo book:

I started to take the photographs that compose this work in 2010, when I left the house where I had spent the years of my childhood and adolescence with my family.
From that day I returned to my old house almost every Sunday, and almost every Sunday I took photographs. Those images represented a moment of intense inner research and recognition of my identity, made of memories sedimented between walls and voids, objects, presences and absences, old family photo albums, photos of photos.
As intimate as it can be, Sunday Back Home represents a collection of tiny personal photographic truths to share with those who wish to observe not only moments of awe and introspection experienced by a stranger, but also their own.

I believe the photographer represents the medium through which the purpose of photography is realized, a purpose which is first and foremost a personal choice, and that ends in research of an image of the moment it encloses.
