In 1516 Sir Thomas More coined the term “Utopia” to describe an idealistic society in which common principles are shared, people live by farming simply for survival and not for commerce and private properties and money are abolished.
But what is Utopia today?
Utopian believers are the “real dreamers”, those that do not dream with eyes open but actually try to make their dreams come true. History is full of examples of dreaming heroes that envision a society, which is happy, tolerant, free, unconditioned, peaceful, self sufficient and green.
Carlo Bevilacqua, a dreamer in his own right, has traveled the globe seeking the people that dare to believe in a better world. Either solo, with family or as a full community, they set up an open living society in which the free human spirit is respected and nature’s way is the walk to walk. Bevilacqua did his research and went off to find them, the true utopian believers, to photo-graph and hear their stories, to learn and share their visions and views.
Utopia is the place our heart should dwell in.
It is not a “nowhere” or an “elsewhere”.
It is here and now.
If we seek it.
It is the “good place” that we can create for ourselves.
It is the impossible dream that becomes reality.
If we want it.
