Description
In his book, Gianmarco Chieregato recounts the most exciting encounters of his career, the “behind the scenes”, the unforeseen events, the humanity: in fact, the book is accompanied by small anecdotes, sometimes quick jokes, sometimes short stories, which bring to life the backstage of each photo and give an idea of how important the relationship established between character and photographer is, as art critic Vilma Torselli emphazises in her prologue to Oltre lo sguardo: “a book like a great fresco of faces and characters where the key to understanding turns out to be complicity, the emotional relationship between photographer and photographed”.
The most beautiful shots are those in which the eyes of the protagonists tell you something special,” says Gianmarco Chieregato. “When I have a person in front of me to portray, I always look in the face, the body, the hands, for an element that goes beyond the gaze, and in my book I wanted to collect those portraits in which I feel I have achieved this objective, which is fundamental for me.
Steven Spielberg, George Clooney, Bill Murray, Valeria Golino, Fiorello, Vittorio and Alessandro Gassman, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Guillermo del Toro, Luciano Pavarotti, Alessandro Borghi, Massimiliano Fuksass, Valentino, Pier Paolo Piccioli, Giorgio Armani, Alessio Boni, Giorgia, Alessandra Amoroso and Tiziano Ferro are just some of the icons of our time immortalized in the collection.
