This work follows the journey of Laura Lafon and her lover as they travelled the mountain regions Kurdistan. Looking for the answer to the question “what is love?” they find themselves constantly asked another: “Why aren’t you married?”

Through the photographs and text in this book they use their own bodies to document and recreate the situations that young, Kurdish couples face everyday in the fight to keep their love alive in a country scarred by conservatism and strong patriarchal values.
